ITTIMATHULLA - Founder of the Illikattil family
The founder of the Illikattil family, which is spread across many countries around the world. Ittimatulla hailed from ancient Mullassery family of Chungam Kolani. Around the year 1775 (ME 950 Malayalam Calendar), Ittimatulla purchased a house called Illikattil from an Ezhavan (half a hectare of land) for ten panam (one and a half rupees) and settled there. Ittimatulla's maternal home was a house called Nellikuzhiyil near Piravom.
ITTIMATHULLA, a good farmer, was married to Elisa of the Moolakkattu family from Kudakkachira near Uzhavoor. They had a son named POTHEN.
POTHEN married to Anna, the sister of Kurian Kathanar (Priest), an ancient Chazhikattu family from Veliyannur. Pothen learned in medicine from an Ezhava ayurveda physician named Ittindan of Kakkathukki, who was famous at that time in Purappuzha. Pothen and Anna had two children, son named Ittimatulla and daughter named Elisa. Pothen, who learned in ayurveda medicine, had good knowledge in the subjects of eye medicine, poison medicine, carpentry, and mathematics.
ITTIMATHULLA ( Also called him POTHEN) and daughter ELISA
ELISA married into a family called Kallel Puthanpurayil. There is no family by that name now. The families of Myalkarapuram, Vengachuvattil, and Patharikara belong to this family.
Pothen’s son ITTIMATHULLA was not only skilled in Ayurveda medicine, but also skilled in treating and curing diseases such as fever, and eye medicine. Ittimathulla’s first wife was Ittina from Puthanpurayil of the Madhavakkara family. In this marriage, Mathulla had a son named Mathai. Later, Mathai was known as Pothen. After the death of Ittina, Ittimatulla married to
Mariam, the daughter of Edattukunnel Thomman, from Uzhavoor. In his second marriage, he has three sons named Thomman, Kuruvila, and Philippos, and a daughter, Kochiriyam.
MATHAI (Ittimatullah's son from first marriage)
Mathai, married Uthup's daughter Achu at Marikaveetil from Marika. They had a son named Uthup and daughters named Mundi and Mariam.
Mathai's son UTHUP married from Mundathanam family, from Uzhavoor Parish. Uthup had no children.
Mathai's eldest daughter MUNDI was married to Mathan from the cherkkala family from Uzhavoor. This couple had a son named Mathan and a daughter named Annamma. Annamma's children Lawrence, Mary, Valsa and Lissy now lives in America.
The second daughter MARIAM was married to Pothen from Kottiyanikkara family in Monipally. Ittimathulla third son Kuruvila married from a family named Madathamcheril from Marika .
Mathai's youngest son Philippos moved to Ennolikkara on the Marika area. He had two sons named Mathai (Matha) and Chacko and two daughters named Aley and Mariam.
KURUVILLA (Ittimatullah's son from second marriage)
ULAHANNAN married from Vellanal family of Karimkunnam. Ulahannan continued the Ayurveda medical treatment he had learned from his father and gradually became very popular. He had two sons Kunjepp and Kuruvila and Four daughters Mariamma, Kunjeli, Naitho and Mariachi.
PHILIPOSE (Ittimatullah's son from second marriage)
Ittimatulla's youngest son, PHILIPOSE, moved to Marika and settled in Ennolikara. He had two sons, Mathai and Chacko, and two daughters, Aley and Mariam.
Aley was married to Chungam Cheriyil family and Mariam was married to Thamarakkad Pulikkal family.
Mathai had four children, Peeli, Kunjepp, Mariyakutty and Aley. Aley was married to Areekkara Muthurumbil family. Aley's children all live in Bangalore. Mathai's son Peeli had two sons, Mattha and Chacko. Mattha lives in Marika, and Chacko lives in California with his family in the United States.
KOCHEERIAM (Ittimatullah's daughter from second marriage)
Ittimatulla's youngest daughter Kocheeryam married to Uthup of the Chakkalakkal family at Monipally. They had three sons, Thomman, Matha, and Itti, and two daughters, Anna and Aley.
THOMMAN (Ittimathula's son from second marriage)
